Kane Electrical and Renewables LTD are now a registered Electric charge point installer (Workplace scheme). We can supply and install residential single phase, commercial and Industrial 3 phase charge points for every building type. We are registered OZEV Installers.

At Kane Electrical and Renewables LTD we aim to provide EV charging stations to businesses in Belfast and surrounding areas.

With NICEIC certification, and manufacturer’s warranty, EV chargers are designed to safely and efficiently charge all electric vehicles. Installation costs can be supported by government grants, so residents and businesses in and around the Belfast region can benefit from support to encourage the wider use of electric vehicles.

How do Charge Points Work?

  • Slow charge can be achieved over about 7 or 8 hours and works by attaching your car battery to a general electricity supply.
  • Slow chargers typically operate at 3 kW (13-16 Amps) and you can use a normal plug socket but it is advised to have a dedicated unit installed at home or work.
  • Fast chargers deliver between 7 and 22 kW and provide a much quicker load time of three to four hours.
  • Rapid chargers can come in either AC or DC. AC chargers up to about 43 kW can provide an 80% charge in about 30 minutes.
  • A DC charger provides up to 50 kW and delivers a similar result.
  • Whether your EV can take either the higher AC or DC charging will depend on your model of car and the kind of attachment you have.
  • Connectors also vary depending on the amount of charge you can have and whether it is AC or DC.
  • You may need to buy different cables including a portable charging cable that allows you to safely perform a charge at home.

How much is the Grant?

Workplace Charging Scheme – provides grant funding towards the up-front cost of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge-points for eligible businesses, charities, and public sector organisations, up to a maximum grant value of £350 per charging port.

Electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets

This grant is for small and medium-sized businesses.

An EV infrastructure grant gives you money off the cost of wider building and installation work that’s needed to install multiple chargepoint sockets.

The work can be for sockets you want to install now and in the future. For example, an EV infrastructure grant can cover things like wiring and posts.

The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £15,000. You can get:

  • up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed
  • up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure
  • You can receive up to 5 grants across 5 different sites.
